Cheltenham may not be the first place you think of for canoeing and kayaking but take a closer look and you'll find plenty of active clubs and outdoor centres who are all out on the water whenever they get the chance, be it on a lake, the River Severn, the Sharpness Canal, or travelling a bit further afield round to the Welsh, Devon and Cornish coasts. The Cheltenham Canoe Club is a well established group regularly meeting up to go paddling. The club is suitable for beginners right through to experts, including pool sessions in the Sandford Lido in Cheltenham during the summer, and trips to popular white water areas in the UK and abroad.

Gloucester Canoe Club

The Gloucester Canoe Club is a well attended club which is based near the weir at Maisemore on the River Severn. Activities include flatwater kayaking and playboating and all abilities and ages are welcome. The club also run indoor pool sessions during the winter months for those looking to fine tune their eskimo kayak rolls.

ADJ Canoe Club

The ADJ Canoe Club is open to all those who want to get out into great outdoors from the comfort of a canoe or a kayak. The club is mainly involved in flatwater touring and recreational boating. The club meets up regularly to paddle local waterways such as the Severn and the Avon and also organises trips further afield.

Evesham Paddlesport - Canoe & Kayak club for the Vale of Evesham

One of the newer clubs in the region, Evesham Paddlesport aim to provide a sociable and friendly paddling environment while promoting both kayaking and canoeing. The club is suitable for all abilities from beginner to advanced paddlers. Activities range from whitewater kayaking, canoe slalom events to relaxed paddling trips on the River Avon.

Wychavon Kayak & Canoe Club

Wychavon Kayak and Canoe Club is based in Pershore on the River Avon. The club is well attended by adults and children alike, with a range of abilities. The Club meets every Thursday evening throughout the year (outdoors in the summer and pool training in the winter). Weekly sessions involve paddling on local rivers or weirs - and there are also weekend paddling trips and social events. The club has a reasonable amount of qualified coaches in various disciplines and we run courses throughout the year.

From their centre at Kerne Bridge near Ross on Wye, Herefordshire, Wye Pursuits offer a wide range of activites including canoeing & kayaking and whitewater rafting.
