Feel Free Nomad

Part of this description applies to the Perception Scooter.
What a little beauty the Nomad is. In 2005 the Nomad and Scooter took the sub 3m sit on top market by the scruff of the neck and gave it a good shaking. There are three market leaders in our opinion and in no particular order Nomad, Scooter and Mini X. The advantage of coming to a market part way through its development is the new design can incorporate everything that has been learnt so far and then build on it. Scooter and Nomad were a collaborative design in 2005 and shared the same gene pool. The Nomad and Scooter now have differences one from the other and both have their own advantages. The differences are not great and are weighed by purchasers in different ways. The Nomad is also available in the Standard and Deluxe specifications but you do get two hatches on the Standard Nomad. You do not get the side carrying handles of the Scooter but you get a better bow handle and so on and so on. We always (well very nearly always) have both Nomad and Scooter in stock in all our outlets. They are that good you need to make the decision as to which one you prefer. Sit your bum on all of them and look at the colour and outfitting variations. We know the subtle differences but if you were blindfolded you would struggle.
All sit on top kayaks drink a drop of water when in use and are therefore fitted with drain plugs to drain the hull after use. The amount of water is small but will increase slightly when hatches, rod holders and all the other essential paraphernalia are fitted.


Handles / Seat The Nomad has 2 large carrying handles front and back moulded as part of the boat, this makes it easy to cart to your paddling destination. They also don't cut through your hands as some other sit on top handles tend to do when carry over a longer distance. In the deluxe Spec the nomad comes with a fully padded seat which gives you support and comfort whilst out there enjoying yourself. It has been mentioned a few times by customers who have back problems that they feel more comfortable in this boat than others in the range. It also has the detachable thigh braces to give you that extra control and stability.


Storage The feel free Nomad most probably has the best storage of all the sit on tops under 3 metres. It has generous space under the hatches front and back and would easily cater for all the kit needed for a good day on the water. It also has a large area where a barrel or a dry bag can be clipped in and stored away whilst paddling.

Hull The Nomad has a well designed hull. They have put enough rocker on the front of the boat to allow the bow to cut through choppy water if the situation was to change whilst on the water, and also gives a solid skeg to help go in a straight line with minimal effort. It also self bales so any water that comes over the top of the boat can escape through the bottom, through the self drainage holes.
